Our History
The Club was officially known as Waverley Cricket Club on 2nd August, 1894. It was at this time the Club was accepted into the Hordern Shield Competition conducted by the New South Wales Cricket Association. The other Clubs were Central Cumberland, North Sydney, Manly, Leichhardt, Glebe, South-Sydney, Canterbury, Redfern, University, Paddington and East-Sydney making a total of twelve clubs.
Waverley Oval as we know it today was originally known as Flagstaff Farm and was an extensive Chinese market garden. There were also other rural pursuits carried out on the farm. Cricket of sorts was played as early as 1878.
The Club celebrated its centenary on 2nd August, 1994. A number of special events were held including a "black tie' dinner at Randwick Racecouse with five hundred people in attendance. The Club was honoured by the AJC who conducted the Waverley Cricket Club Handicap at Randwick racecourse.
