Armstrong smashes century in Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup28-Nov-2019 Tim Armstrong has blasted Eastern Suburbs to a mammoth ten-wicket victory over Gordon on Sunday, headlining a brilliant eighth round of the Kingsgrove Sports First-Grade T20 Cup. It was the penultimate weekend of the regular season, with the final two rounds to be played as double-headers next Sunday.
Gordon set Eastern Suburbs a very competitive 8/179 off 20 overs before the Dolphins annihilated this total with the loss of no wickets, mainly thanks to Tim Armstrong’s unbeaten 123 from 66 balls, including 14 fours and seven sixes. This was the third highest individual score in the T20 completion since its inception in 2008-09.
Armstrong, 29, was part of the victorious Australian team at the 2010 Under 19 World Cup that also featured future stars Nic Maddinson, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh.
Armstrong received a rookie NSW Blues contract at the end of that season before moving to WA where he played two One-Day games and featured for the Perth Scorchers in the BBL. He also played T20 cricket for the Blues and Sydney Thunder.
His unbeaten opening stand of 182 with Udit Mehta, who scored 53 from 40 balls, is the second-highest opening T20 partnership in First-Grade and the third-highest for any wicket. Eastern Suburbs won with 14 balls to spare.
