EASTS CRICKET XMAS GARDEN PARTY & LADIES DAY

THIS year's Christmas Party will take on an all new look this year with the launch of the Ladies Day Garden Party.

The party will take place during the First Grade one-dayer against Mosman and with the sexy sounds of DJ Hammy (aka Puru) playing out the beats in the marquees filled with food and bubbles it is set to be a great day.

All players are strongly encouraged to bring along a lady - whether it be a partner or friend and celebrate the Festive season in what is a great opportunity for the Dolphins to reach out to its female members and friends.

At the conclusion of the function buses are scheduled to take all guests to the after party at the Sheaf later that evening to continue on the good times.

EASTS DINNER CLUB - REVIEW No2

Episode two of the Dinner Club was held at Daikoku in Double Bay, a mere stone throw away from the regular Dolphin haunt The Golden Sheaf Hotel.

Although there weren't any stones being thrown around there was plenty of food being tossed into bowls at this Teppanyaki restaurant.

Out of the 14 Dolphins that attended Sam Robson, Steve Abbott and Luke Bower were able to leave with some leftover rice on their clothes after putting down some tough chances.

But all in all it was a raging success with plenty of good food and good times. And here is what some of our critics thought of the night.

Luke Bower: An improvement on the first dinner. Good food and highly entertaining.

Sean Paul McGoldrick: Was a tough gig being seated in between the Warner Bros. Rare behaviour, Belly was ducking egg thrown at his head all night, seeing them well. The real winners were the two young ladies who had to sit opposite 14 fine young gentlemen... and Dave. A great well to celebrate Somers birthday?

Mick O'Connell: All was good. Food was good and varied. The staff was friendly and attentive. Drinks were cold. No wheelchair access. I just don't get the food being thrown around bit. Maybe it's a new generation thing. 7/10.

Steve Warner: Outstanding, Luke Bower needs to learn how to catch.

Will Sommerville: Was nice not waking up shitting and spewing the next day. Much improved and a lot of fun. After food was being thrown at myself and Sammy Robson he did say "can't we just eat it?" which was a valid point. 9/10.

Steve Abbott: I woke up with several grains of fried rice pressed on my stomach, so either something I don't remember happened to me after my post dinner ale at the sheaf, or it means I had an enjoyable time. While the food was less memorable than our first Easts dinner club, the level of theatre, banter and pants wetting laughter was superior.

Peter Forrest: The food was fantastic and plenty of it. Those who carry a bit of a roof round their stomach were satisfied with the amount. Choice of company is important as food fights appear common.

EASTS DINNER CLUB - REVIEW

NINE Dolphins attended the inaugural meeting of East's Dinner Club, held at Churrasco, opposite the Coogee Bay Hotel. It's a Brazilian tapas-meat-conveyor belt of a restaurant specialising in the relentless delivery of meat from cow to plate. Here is what some of the attendees made of it.

Max Abbott: Tasty meats that keep coming, perhaps consider not eating for most of the day prior to arriving to gain maximum value. First Class company! Rating 3.5 Dolphins out of 5.

Luke Bower: 6 out of 10. Too much meat, not enough salads. Food poisoning question mark

Sean Paul McGoldrick: John Daly's dream restaurant. Perfect for the salad dodgers among us. Every derivation of meat under the sun. Plus international waitresses... it's all positive. 4 big mits out of 5.

Mick O'Connell: 1. No wheelchair access.
2. American Express, Diners Club and Mastercard only accepted. No Bank of Bendigo, South China Bank or Bank of Brazil. Unusual for a
Brazilian bar-b-que restaurant.
3. Noise level. If you are late teens or early twenties normal, 30s or 40s acceptable or older than 50 years very loud.
4. Music. As above.
5. Parking. Street only.
6. Toilets Unisex, which haven't really taken off in Sydney, although Candice Falzon is the latest face for the Eastern Suburbs Unisex Toilet Building Company.
7. Wait staff. Excellent. Not pushy or too familiar, but very pleasant and some pretty girls.
8. Tables. Not too close, just right.
9. Food. Excellent. A good mix, well presented and served, fine sauces, not too much and not too little.
10. General feeling. A really good night that should develop into a select club of Eastern Suburbs Socialites.

Steve Abbott: Churrasco is noisy, you leave smelling like a Bbq and the lamb, sirloin, pork, chicken, chicken hearts, which arrives courtesy of enthusiastic waiters, is quality and cooked to perfection. Although I'm sure Will begs to differ. Accompaniments include Salsas, chilli dips, potatoes in creamy stuff and a curious black daal style concoction. I will never forget the fear on Kirk Rimmer's face as he bit into the spicy chicken. NB the previous spiciest dish Kirk has experienced is chicken flavored Twisties.

Of course you can purchase salad for ten bucks, but I'd rather be stabbed with a compass. Thankfully my stomach is made up of many compartments so as one fills I simply close one then open another. There's a decent wine list and a fair range of beers, the overwhelming preference was the Brazilian, while a fruity NZ Sauv Blanc was Will Sommerville's choice of beverage. The place was packed, there were laughs, banter and what made it more interesting was that while we were dining our vice president and president were swapping jobs at a meeting being held somewhere else. The highlight for me was being seated next to Kirk and I described how he would need to bite a towel during his first ablutions plus close the windows so his neighbours couldn't hear the screams.

PRESENTATION NIGHT

THE Easts cricket end of season presentation night will be held on Thursday the 9th of April (before good Friday) at Paddo RSL. The event will be a black tie event, so be sure to shine those black shoes before arriving.

All players are encouraged to bring partners if they wish and share a few drinks afterwards in the last official club function of the season.

EASTS XMAS PARTY

THE Easts Dolphins put aside their cricket gear for drinking, costumes and dancing to celebrate the festive season at Paddington RSL.

With the theme tight 'n' bright most players braved the concerned looks of people on the streets to turn up in their most outlandish outfits with the Zelma swimcap, Chilko sequin pants and the Nevill, Weeks and Abbott lycra tights creating some talking points.

However it was the club's international imports that stole the show with Bernhard Ballin performing the Haka, Chris Maurice and Dai Williams doing the strip and Puru Rathore producing a sensational dj set. The acts made great entertainment and ensured a highly successful evening.

Thanks to Steve Abbott for doing his material we still laugh at despite it being 20 years old, Sean Paul McGoldrick and Jimmy Smith for their input during the evening.
