David An At a very early age David’s extreme cricketing skills were evident as he displayed abilities well above his age. He continued to dominate junior games and competitions for much of his junior life and during this time experimented batting, bowling and throwing with both hands. David played with the Coastal Cricket Club through to the 2000-2001 season. In this time he made each of the South Eastern Junior Cricket Association Aged Representative Teams. He then progressed through to the NSWU15 Side in 2001-2002.
David represented NSW U17’s in 2002-2003 and 2003-2004.
After a successful introduction to grade cricket David was selected in the NSW U19 sides in 2003-2004 and 2005-2006 making the Australian U19 Team in 2005-2006. He received his first State Contract with New South Wales in 2006-2007 making his One Day debut for NSW v Tasmania January 24th 2007.
David was selected to the Cricket Australia Academy in Brisbane in 2007 and 2008. After his time at the Academy in 2008 where he dominated the Emerging International Players Tournament (Awarded Player of Tournament) David’s rise to international cricket begun.
The 2008-2009 season commenced in stunning fashion with a record breaking innings of 165 v Tasmania on November 29th 2009.A week later he scored 97 off 54 balls against the same team. The national selectors took note of his explosive batting skills in both the One Day and T20 domestic cricket competitions that season awarding him with selection for Australia in the T20 International v Sth Africa on January 11th 2009. His selection for Australia meant he was the first player since 1877 to be selected for the national team with-out having played a 1st class game.
David announced himself onto international cricketing stage with his debut innings for Australia v Sth Africa scoring an explosive 89 off 43 balls including a record breaking 7 sixes in the innings and the second fastest T20 international fifty off 18 balls.
He made his Australian One Day International debut immediately after his Australian T20 debut, v Sth Africa in Hobart on January 18th 2009.
David was finally awarded 1st Class selection making his debut for NSW v W.A at the SCG on 5th March 2009.
His 2008-2009 impacting season was rewarded with his signing with The Delhi Daredevils in the Indian IPL for two seasons (2009,2010) and Durham County Cricket Club in 2009.
He represented Australia in the 2009 T20 World Cup.
David returned to Australia for the 2009-2010 season and in this season his highlights included scoring the fastest Australian domestic T20 Fifty v Tasmania (50 off 18 balls)30th Dec 2009 ,scoring the 3rd fastest Australian domestic T20 Fifty v Sth Australia (50 off 20 balls)17th Jan 2010 and scoring the equalling 2nd fastest T20 International Half Century (18 balls) v West Indies 23rd Feb 2010.
The 2010 IPL season saw David score his maiden T20 century on 29th March 2010 v KRR. He started the 2010 T20 World Cup with a dominating scoring 72 v India on 7th May 2010 including a record equalling 7 sixes in the innings.
David will play for Middlesex County Cricket Club for their 2010 T20 Domestic Competition. Read all of David’s updated career statistics.
