Junior News

MID SEASON BREAK

The weekend of 14th and 15th of December will be the last competition games for the year for U12 to U17. Junior cricket is officially finished for 2019 for our Junior Blaster, Master Blaster and U10-U11 players. We hope everyone enjoys their break and will be back on the weekend of 1st Feb 2020 when the season will re-commence.

If you have not registered to date and are still keen to try cricket, It is possible to register for Junior and Master Blaster for the “summer” section of the completion (Feb/March) via the PlayCricket website. It may also be possible to register for U10’s, although in both cases we will need sufficient numbers of registrants to be able to form teams.

For those players looking to improve their skills over the break we recommend the cricket camps run by David Dawson and the Pro Performance Cricket team.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to the following U10 and U11 Easts teams who were winners in their divisions for the spring competiton. Unfortunately the finals games were called off due to the high levels of smoke that weekend, therefore the winners were the teams that finished on top of the points table as follows:

1. Easts Goannas in the U10 Abbot division
2. Easts Stingrays in the u10 Lyon divison (unbeaten)
3. Easts Wahoos in the U11 Starc division (unbeaten)
4. Easts barracudas in the U11 Dwarshuis division

JUNIOR TRAINING

We held our first junior high performance training session on Wednesday 16th run by our Junior Coach Dave Dawson. We had a great turnout from our U10 players who picked up some good skills while having a great time with their mates. We will have weekly sessions for different age groups, but each week must be separately booked via Try Booking. Please keep an eye out for the POD newsletter where we will advertise sessions.

DAVE DAWSON TRAIN THE COACHES COURSE

On Wednesday October 19 of our junior coaches gathered at Cranbrook's indoor facility to get some invaluable tips on coaching junior teams from our coach Dave Dawson. It was great to tap into Dave’s vast experience in this area and those that attended came away with some great tips and action plans.

PETER NEVILL DROPS IN ON JUNIOR TRAINING

Easts kicked off this seasons junior training program (for U10's and above) with a wicket-keeping master class run by former Australian wicket-keeper (and current NSW captain and Dolphins player) Peter Nevill. As you would expect the session was fully subscribed and our young players were able to gain some invaluable tips from one of the best in the business. Keep an eye out for future training sessions that will be announced in the POD (our regular email communication) and need to be booked via TryBooking
