IN2 Cricket booming in 09/10
The future of Easts cricket seems in good hands with an unprecedented number of kids enrolling in this year's IN2 Cricket program being held at Waverley Oval.
To date around 200 kids are turning up week in week out at Waverley Oval for coaching clinics and even Club Vice-President Peter Lovitt is amazed by the turnout.
"Its incredibly exciting, we now have 700 juniors in total registered to the club, 200 of which are participating in the IN2 Cricket program.
"Its the future of the club its great to have kids playing at a club associated with six internationals (Erin Osborne, Sarah Andrews, Leah Poulton, Nathan Bracken, Brad Haddin and David Warner) and I look forward to seeing these kids come through our juniors system," he said.
So far all of the senior playing members have been down to Waverley to lend a hand with the coaching, including Australian wicket-keeper Brad Haddin who presented some lucky youngsters with awards.
Hopefully in a few years time we will see members of this young Easts brigade playing for the senior club or even NSW or Australia!

WELCOME TO IN2 CRICKET
Welcome to the Eastern Suburbs IN2Cricket webpage! Here you will find all you need to know about the program.
The initial program was designed by Cricket Australia to introduce boys and girls to the game. In order to cater for the growing number of registrations the Eastern Suburbs Cricket Club have designed a specific program to cater for the growing number of participants which exceeded 130 in the 2008-2009 season.
Each week representative players from all grades including the likes of David Warner and Nick Berry (1st Grade Captain) assist with the delivery of the program and also assist by presenting participants with their certificates.
The program:
-Covers a range of fundamental skills important to childhood development including those specific to the game of cricket i.e. hitting a ball, catching, throwing, running, stopping, balance and co-ordination.
-caters for varying individual skill and age levels.
-incorporates the use of the game sense approach which focuses on skills learned through a more competitive environment.
-encourages fun and promotes an active lifestyle.
- recognises improvement and awards participants with a certificate
