Age Groups

We welcome new players in all age groups. Both boys and girls can play, with girls entitled to an age dispensation in some circumstances. We are also looking to form separate girls' Under 10 and Under 14 teams to play in a new girls' competition. A player's age group this season is determined by the age they will be Under at 1 September this year (e.g. if the player is still 7 years old on 1 September 2008 they will be Under 8 for the 2008-09 season).

Easts Juniors enter about 25 teams in the South Eastern Junior Cricket Association (SEJCA) competitions in all age groups from Under 8 to Under 16. Modified rules ensure appealing games and gradually extend cricket skills as the players get older. New players in all age groups from Under 9 upwards usually pick up cricket skills quickly and have no difficulty joining our established teams.

For Under 6, Under 7 and inexperienced Under 8 players, the Club conducts a Coaching Clinic on Saturday mornings so these young players can learn the basics of batting, bowling and fielding and confidently join our Under 8 and Under 9 teams the following season.
